Believers, Ballots & the Bible.

The future of this nation is held within the hands of the church. 40 million Americans didn’t vote in the last presidential election. It is every Christian’s responsibility, instituted by God, to steward their citizenship of the United States of America by voting (1 Peter 2:13-17).

“Silence is consent.” -John Bevere

There’s no perfect candidate on the ballot. Both are in need of the saving work of Jesus. However, there are evident differences in the spirits, morals, and characters of the two. One is welcoming of Jesus. One makes a mockery of Him. One side celebrates, parades, and encourages sin. The other, while imperfect, still stands on “one nation under God.” Our religious freedom is at stake here.

My heart is deeply burdened by the weight of what policies are on the ballots. Many that mean a lot to God and grieve his heart. As a person who has the spirit dwelling within me, I can’t be okay with not voting or giving my vote to someone whose policies are in opposition of God’s infallible word.  We are the imago dei (image of God) & our vote should represent that.

As a believer in Jesus, this is why I’m voting:

The issue of LIFE— yes, the murdering of innocent babies. God doesn’t make mistakes.  He is sovereign in all things. No matter how a baby is conceived or the circumstances that surround the pregnancy, that baby is a gift from God, with value and purpose. Life begins at conception, and abortion must end. The enemy has come to KILL but Jesus came to give LIFE. (Psalm 139)

The issue of gender/sexuality— God created male and female in his image. Once again, not a mistake. What the Creator creates, He gets to define. He is God, we are not (Genesis 1:27).

The issue of marriage & family— God instituted marriage between one woman and one man. Together they are to be fruitful and multiply, raising children in a Godly home where both a mom and dad are present. God’s design is under attack (Genesis 2:24).

Will we step up, speak out, make our voice heard or will we have to apologize to our children and grandchildren for our ignorance and selfishness? The Bible is a very political book. Politics have invaded theology. This election isn’t about a person, personality, race, gender, financial status, or popularity level, rather policy. Ask yourself this… Which candidate will best lead our country with policies that align the closest to God’s Word, which is the ultimate truth?

Salt: slows decay.

Light: exposes darkness.

(Matthew 5:13–16)

Follower of Jesus, this is what you were made to be & there is no exception with this election. As ambassadors of Christ, it is our responsibility to vote, stand on truth and to push back darkness. Yet, we wait with an eternal hope that no matter who goes back to the White House, Jesus is the king of kings and the Lord of Lords.

Jesus wins in the end.

for all my days, eden b
