Jesus satisfies in the middle of the longing.
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied”
- Matthew 5:6
The same God of 2024 is the same God of 2025 and the same is true with the enemy. Just because the page of a new year has turned, does not mean that he has given up on seeking after your soul. One of the craftiest lies that the enemy likes to whisper to us is this, “God is withholding from you.” When we hear this phrase, it should sound familiar because it’s his original lie. In the garden, he tried to convince Adam and Eve that God was withholding good from them. He’s doing the same here and now with us. There are two types of desires that we have. One being bad desires and one being good ones.
We have to fight our sinful desires.
One popular misconception is that once Christ lives within you, your desire for sin magically disappears. That is not the truth. That is why we must DAILY fight against sin in our lives. Yes, sin may be fun for a moment, but it’s not worth the price it costs. What the enemy wants to convince you of is that Jesus doesn’t truly satisfy, yet sin will. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Living a holy life, desiring the things of God actually fills the void of what our flesh craves. While the world may satisfy for a moment, we will again become hungry. Only Jesus can truly satisfy the deepest desires of our souls. Our desires will be met with satisfaction when our pursuit is that of holiness, not momentary pleasure.
We have to surrender our good desires to God.
God has given us all desires. Maybe for you, you’re a lot like me and your sitting in the waiting room of many. Maybe it’s the desire to meet your spouse or land your dream job. Maybe it’s the desire to find your people or have a baby. Deep within your heart, you know what desire you long for above all else. The thing that you pray about day after day. The enemy is crafty. What he likes to do is make us question why a good God wouldn’t give us these desires if after all they are good. What i’ve come to learn first hand is that Gods ways are higher than our own. We can’t see what He does. His timing is perfect. His plan is for our good. Hear me, you are not God. There’s only one of those, and He’s in control. Trust Him with your desires and continue to surrender them at His feet. He doesn’t get tired of hearing your voice.
What i’m afraid of is that the enemy has made many of us beleive that God will satisfy but only when our desires we so long for are met. Friend, I want you to know that Jesus satisfies when your table is empty, your left ring finger is bare, your womb is closed, your job is nonexistent, and your bank account is empty.
Jesus satisfies in the middle of the longing.
