What do you do when this season of life isn't what you thought it would be?
Many of us are in a season of transition and waiting, where our lives have not yet arrived where we thought they would. With this, we have begun to question the hand and goodness of God. But just because the details of this next season are unknown to you, does not mean that they are unknown to God. God's identity and activity serves as the greatest reminder that even though this season is uncomfortable, God is here in the midst of it. New seasons mean new opportunities for new growth, new joys, new adventures, and a chance to see God in a brand new way. In the cloudiness of a whole lot of new, walk in the security of the faithfulness of God in your life. Your best life isn’t somewhere out in the future because the best life you have is right now. And if we aren’t careful, we will fall into something I like to call “destination addiction.” Only when I arrive at ____ will I be happy, fulfilled, and content. But the more we think about what’s next, the more we miss out on what’s now. Where God is taking you will be so much more rewarding when he gets to teach you lessons along the way, so lean into his still small voice in the chaos of being in your twenties. Allow room for God to intervene in your plans and dreams. Enjoy the journey with Jesus. If you are a follower of Jesus, here’s what you have to understand: Calling has nothing to do with DO as much as it has to do with WHO. In other words, who you are becoming is more important to God than what you are doing. What if we stopped fretting about what to do and where to go and focused more on who we are called to be? Our calling is unchanging from season to season. It's to know Jesus and to make Jesus known. Don't let your calling outrun the development of your character. Jesus cares more about the nature of your character than he does the results of your calling. Your character is what will sustain you when your calling gets cloudy. Because in this, your calling is birthed from the overflow of your character. Besides, God’s timing for your life takes precedence over your plans for your life. There is nothing wrong with wanting something, but when it comes to NEEDING it – that’s when you become discontent. And when we become discontent, those things are often turned into an idol. When character becomes your aim, you aren’t focused on making a name for yourself – you’re focused on making a difference.
