“El Roi” — The God who sees.
Have you ever felt unseen? Do you currently feel unseen? For the daughter of God, this is an impossible reality, yet a lie the enemy loves to use. Who are we to think that the same God who knows the amount of hairs on our heads, and the same God who collects every tear isn’t the same God who sees us in this very moment right now? In a moment of deep grief and despair, I found myself on the floor of my bathroom with my back up against the wall, all alone in the dark. All I could say over and over again was, “God you see me, God you see me, God you see me.” That truth didn’t change my circumstances, but it changed my response to the very real emotions that were battling within me. Grasp the fact that out of every single human being alive on this planet, He sees YOU. He sees every minute detail, and He’s sovereignly reigning over it. He’s not a distant God who is watching from his mighty throne in heaven. No, He comes close and sits with you. He came to earth to experience everything you are feeling in this moment. The God who sees gets it. And He is your comfort, refuge, and strength to lean on for dear life. Don’t mistake what you’re feeling for truth. The fact that we serve a God who sees frees us from getting revenge, having the last word, gossiping, and feeling the need to measure up. He fights for you, so you don’t have to. This is the power of Christ in you. He’s working on your behalf so you can rest in Him. Jesus comes close and reassures your soul, “If you’re secure for eternity, then you’re secure for the day right in front of you.” We get to know His heart, when we feel like ours is falling apart. He sees what you can and He sees what you cannot. Trust Him. And claim over and over through every season, “You are the God who sees me, and that is enough.”
“So she called the name of the Lord who spoke to her, ‘You are the God of seeing,’ for she said, ‘Truly here I have seen Him who looks at me.” Genesis 16:13
