For the girl who doesn’t feel confident in her body this summer.
We are our worst critics. Where others see beauty, we see insecurities. We have a morphed view of our bodies when we look in the mirror.
“I NEED TO LOSE 15 POUNDS.”
“WHERE DID MY HIGH SCHOOL BODY GO?”
“I WISH THIS CELLULITE WOULD DISAPPEAR.”
“WHY DO I HAVE SO MANY ROLLS?”
“MY THIGHS ARE TOO BIG.”
“HOW COULD I EVER PUT ON A BATHING SUIT THIS SUMMER?”
You are not alone. So many girls are secretly struggling, however, many will never admit it. Hollywood and social media have portrayed a photoshopped and fake display of what beauty is, and we have believed it. We have bought into the unrealistic expectation of what beauty is and we are trying to live up to it and it’s exhausting. When God made man He said it was “very good.” That includes you too, friend. We should steward our bodies well because they are the temple of God, however, we should not idolize the look of them. The enemy wants to withhold God’s abundance from you. Including a joy-filled summer because you’re held captive at the thought of putting on a bathing suit. Sister, wear that bathing suit and walk confidently knowing that your identity is not based on how your body looks, but rather by the one who created it. God remains the same even when your body doesn’t. Beauty isn’t determined by what cultural standards say. Since God invented beauty, He’s the one that gets to define it. He’s wild about you and every imperfection that you see. Yes with every roll, cellulite, and all. There is no flaw that Jesus sees because He made you, and it’s impossible in his character to make a mistake. The designer delights in His design.
YOU ARE WORTHY.
YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL.
YOU ARE MADE BY GOD.
YOU WERE MADE FOR GOD.
WEAR THE BATHING SUIT.
PSALM 139:14
“I PRAISE YOU, FOR I AM FEARFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE. WONDERFUL ARE YOUR WORKS; MY SOUL KNOWS IT VERY WELL.”
