Leaving a legacy that lasts.
This morning I was astounded by the relationship between Martin Luther King Jr and Billy Graham. Names of two people who we will remember for generations. Even though they’re gone, their legacies live on. But get this. We don’t remember them for what titles they held, where they went to school, or what family they grew up in. Like today, we stop and remember Martin Luther King not because of anything other than the fact that he created change and stood for justice when no one else would. He was set apart for a cause greater than himself. Billy was from Charlotte NC. Martin Luther King Jr. was from Atlanta GA. Both of them had normal upbringings. No platforms. No statuses. No followings. So what makes them unforgettable? They stood for what was right instead of what was popular. They stood for truth instead of what was comfortable. Simply put, they stood when everyone else was bowing. Their names hold weight because they changed generations with their courage, resilience, and unwavering steadfastness to the truth based on God’s word alone. What legacy will you leave behind?
PRAYER: Lord make me ordinary. Make me bold as a lion. Strip the opinions and pressures of this world to conform. Instead, help me to conform to the likeness of you. May I stop seeking the approval of man and start seeking your hand on my life. Help me to remember that you use ordinary people who follow you, no matter the cost. Knowing you is supremely greater than anything this world says is valuable. Heavenly Father, may I leave a legacy behind that echoes your name that will shake a generation. Amen.
