What the enemy doesn’t want you to know about anxiety.
Anxiety doesn’t come from Jesus, rather it comes from the powers of darkness. It sucks the life out of you and robs you of your hope and your peace. We live in a culture that says it’s ok to live with anxiety but I believe anxiety does not honor the Lord because who I am when I’m anxious isn’t someone who is living in the freedom that Christ bought for me. I realize when I’m anxious, that I didn’t take Jesus at His word. I didn’t look for Him to be my peace. And I kept my eyes fixed on my circumstances. Anxiety is a symptom of something much deeper. We must allow God to dig up the roots that are causing us to wither and die. God can use your anxiety to point out a greater need, but it should never be a place where we allow it to take up residence in our lives. Anxiety exposes our idolatry. Anxiety exposes our bitterness. Anxiety exposes our sin. Anxiety exposes our lack of trust. Anxiety exposes our need for God. Anxiety is the opposite of trusting because anxiety acts out of fear and trust acts out of faith. If we say, Jesus is who He says He is, then He sure can help us in this fight of anxiety. He is more than capable. Seek out help. Seek out counseling but don’t ever let Jesus become your last resort. God’s word is clear about his intention that no one should worry, yet should live in His peace. It’s the character of who He is and His deep compassion for us. If we believe that scripture is the highest authority, then we must read its truths and apply it to our lives. Do not be anxious about anything, but through everything through prayer and petition make your request to God and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will God your heart and mind in Christ Jesus….Take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ. For the person who’s reading this and is in the deepest pit of anxiety, I want you to hear that there is hope for you. Don’t believe the lie that you will be like this forever. If you claim the power that rose Jesus from the dead, and that power lives within you, bondage does not have to be your destiny. Jesus extends his arm as an invitation to rescue you.
