When something good falls apart.
It’s one thing when something bad leaves your life but it’s another when a good thing leaves. A good thing is never supposed to leave right? But when it does the heartbreak stings a little harder, the tears fall quicker, and all of the “why God” questions start to flood our minds. God promises that He withholds no good thing. So if He takes something from you, that means that it actually wasn’t good. God always replaces our good with His better. The disciples were heartbroken when Jesus told them that He had to leave so that He could send His Holy Spirit. Jesus promised them that it would be better than Him staying. The disciples couldn’t grasp this truth yet because all they knew was the goodness of walking with Jesus. Little did they know that when the Spirit would come, He would dwell within them but also every other believer on earth. There will never be a moment when He will be absent from their presence. I felt Jesus say to me, “Daughter, you see good, and sometimes the good leaves your life so that I can bring you better.” Sit in the heartbreak of the good leaving, but wait with expectation of the goodness that is to come. Rest in His protection. Rest in His sovereignty. Rest in His plan. Sometimes God has to allow us to feel the weight of something good leaving so we can experience the abundance of the better that He will one day bring. What we think is good pales in comparison to Jesus’ version of good.
That “good” relationship… Jesus has better.
That “good” job… Jesus has better.
That “good” school… Jesus has better.
That “good” position… Jesus has better.
That “good” friend group… Jesus has better.
That “good” ______ …. Jesus has better.
