For the heart that is overwhelmed by trying to keep up…

We all make comments like, “When I get my life together…”  But when will we ever get our life together? The answer is eternity. Every yearning of your heart desiring to get it all together is a cry for the life you were created for.

It’s always something on this side of heaven…

Another to-do list to complete.

Another load of laundry to fold.

Another event on the calendar.

Another thing that needs to be fixed.

Another room to clean.

Another text message to respond to.

And I’m supposed to workout, eat healthy, prioritize my skincare, and look presentable every day? And my relationships with my parents is strained. I’m struggling to find community. I forgot about that assignment that’s due tonight. When’s everything going to fall into place? Truth is, we are never going to arrive, so we must learn to find rest and joy in the journey. Rest is found when you delight in the Lord not when everything is completed. So in the middle of chaos of yet another Monday, you can experience a peace and rest that will sustain you.

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
